Architecture, huh? That's fabulous =D

It is fun =D
~bdugtong:iconbdugtong: Jan 22, 2008, 10:46:53 PM
Ooo wow. You are all around in the arch-related fields. nice!

ED1 was definitely one of my hardest classes.. but now that I look back on it.. it was actually really fun despite all the stressful hours.

For now, I am thinking about continuing architecture because I don't really have an interest in other majors at the moment. So hopefully, I can balance my time so I won't be too stressed out with all the model building and design work.

Well, my degree is Environmental Design, but I'm specializing in Landscape Architecture. Hoping to do a masters in Architecture in a few years.
I remember my into to ED class, it was so much fun! I loved it! it's REALLY hard work, but if you love it and are really dedicated, you can do great things!
You thinking of continuing on in Architecture?
*cortezmaronie:iconcortezmaronie: Jan 18, 2008, 9:32:14 PM
Well....i go to ITT Tech for multimedia ;)......you?
~bdugtong:iconbdugtong: Jan 18, 2008, 9:32:09 PM
I just finished my first course in environmental design (fall 07).. It was ED1 - Introduction to Environmental Design. It was definitely my hardest class that semester. x_x;;

Wow.. a third year.. haha that's cool! Are you studying environmental design specifically? Or another area like Urban Design/Architecture?

And thanks for the compliment! :]

HOW DO U GET 2 THE 2CND FLOOR?
~topace12:icontopace12: Jan 11, 2008, 8:37:08 PM
Yes, I did major in architecture! I really enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately my parents forced me to graduate in 3.5 years, so I couldn't graduate with all my friends, but other than that, the experience was wonderful. ED11A was a lot of fun. I got to meet some new friends and improved my art skills to the point where even my parents were impressed. Once I got into ED11B, it started to suck a little because I had a nightmare TA (All he ever said was, "needs more work" and then walk away)...

I took Arch100A during the summer, which is definitely a different experience because then you only have to focus on studio and no other classes, but it's very much more compressed, so instead of 16 weeks you get 8. It's like that here at UCLA, so the whole 8 week thing is normal for me now, but since you're on semester system, it'll be a very drastic change; I really felt that I learned a lot during the summer studio, but I also felt like I had no free time. It was really, really intense. I often just slept on the couch in studio... And finally, Arch100B was when I learned the most, because I had a great professor, Rene Davids.

I think there's still a class called Arch132 - Intro to computers, taught by Kalay... my advice is don't take it. It's a waste of your time; you might as well just look on the website and teach yourself autoCAD and Photoshop. That class pissed me off to no end, and the theoretical stuff is just a load of bullcrud anyway.

I really miss visiting the co-ops (especially Lothlorien), having coffee at Cafe Strada, eating yogurt at Yogurt Park, and eating sandwiches at Cafe Intermezzo. Also, for great Indian food, there's a better place than Na'an Curry; if you continue to walk down Telegraph past Dwight, I think, there's a place on the corner of... I think Parker, not sure though, but there's a really great Indian restaurant there, and the food is both tasty AND affordable. At least, it USED to be there. I could be wrong now, a lot of things have changed... But I still remember their curry chickpeas... Mmm, so tasty!

Oh, and when you graduate, see if you can get your folks to buy you dinner at Chez Panisse. It's one of those places that you have to go to at least once. :D I told my parents that I wanted to eat there for graduation dinner, and it was so damn expensive ($100 for three people!) that I'd never go there again, but I'm glad I tried it at least once.

Hahaha, I'm totally geeking out, I really loved being in Berkeley. I really miss the restaurant that my friends jokingly call "MSG House" (It used to be called Old Teahouse, not sure what it's called now, it's on Durant and Telegraph near the Eat-a-Pita and the Sweetheart's)... Anyway.

Feel free to hit me up for any other advice for studio or anything else!

haha wow! i just finished ed1 so i haven't exactly had much studio time in wurster yet.. although i've spent the night watching/helping my friends with their studio projects. hopefully it won't drive me too crazy being in that building all day/night.

how did you like being at berkeley for your undergraduate? (i'm assuming you majored in architecture)
